SME Celebration of the AIME 150th Anniversary ~ 2021
AIME has granted funds to its Member Societies to support customized celebrations of AIME’s 150th at their annual conferences beginning October 2020 through 2022 due to the pandemic. These will include special keynote speakers, cake and champagne toasts, and commemorative gifts. Some will also use a 150th video created by SPE and History Walk pop-up banners created by SME and TMS.
Specifically, SME 2008 President and AIME 2012 and 2020 President, George Luxbacher, is authoring a series of articles in Mining Engineering covering the founding fathers, first 50 meeting, first 50 years, and other topics.
