Tony Toney, formally Thomas Anthony Toney, received his BS and MS from West Virginia University in Mineral Processing Engineering. He has been a Professional Engineer since 1988 and has worked in coal preparation industry for more than 40 years. He has been a member of SME since 1978.

In addition to his master’s thesis, Tony has written, co-authored, presented, and published over 20 papers for Coal Prep, ICPC, CPSA, Coal Pro Tech, SME, PCMIA, Coal Age, and CoalSMART 2023.

He has worked on projects in the US, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Africa, South America, and Mongolia.

Since 2015, Tony has worked as a senior process engineer at Somerset International. Somerset focuses on fine particle recovery, including fine coal recovery, fine tailings dewatering, and valorization.

Most importantly, Tony is PaPa to two grandchildren, father to three daughters, and husband to one wife for 38 years… and counting.
