Herbert Hoover Jr. was born on August 4, 1903, in London, England, and was the elder son of President Herbert Hoover. He served as the United States Under Secretary of State from 1954 to 1957 and had a successful career as an engineer and businessman, particularly in the oil industry, before his death on July 9, 1969.
