Kwai S. Chan (TMS)

1991

For the paper, "Evidence of a Thin Sheet Toughening Mechanism in AI-Fe X Alloys"

Kwai S. Chan holds a B.S., an M.S., and a Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering from Michigan Technological University. After spending two years as a post-doctoral research affiliate at Stanford University, he joined Southwest Research Institute as a research engineer in 1982 and was promoted to his current position, Principal Scientist, in 1988. As a member of the technical staff in the Department of Materials and Mechanics, he has been active in many basic research activities involving advanced alloys, composites, and ceramics. Dr: Chan specializes in mechanical behavior of materials and their modeling at the microstructural level. He has authored or coauthored more than 70 papers. He is involved in many professional activities and is a member of TMS. ASM, Sigma Xi, and ACS.
