T. D. Jones

T.D. Jones was born in Wales, Wisconsin, in 1897. He received a B.S. in Metallurgy from the University of Wisconsin in 1922. That University conferred upon him the degree of Metallurgical Engineering in 1929 and granted him a Citation in 1956 in recognition of Distinguished Engineering Services.
His professional career began as a chemist at the Omaha Plant of the American Smelting and Refining Co. in 1922. In 1927 he was transferred to the Perth Amboy, N.J., Plant. Nearly forty years of continuous service with ASARCO ended with his retirement in February 1962. For the last seven of these years, he had been Chief Lead Refinery Metallurgist. The lead plants were located in Perth Amboy; Omaha, Nebraska; Selby, California; Monterrey, Mexico; and the Brittania Lead Co. at Northfield, Kent, England.
Mr. Jones is a recognized authority on refining lead, gold, silver, bismuth, antimony, and associated lead by-product metals, and holds patents in those fields as well as being the author of many pertinent papers.
A Member of AIME since 1921, he served on its Board in 1952. He was a Director of The Metallurgical Society of AIME from 1957 through 1961, and Treasurer from 1958 through 1961.
