Russo is general manager of MMFX Technologies, now a Commercial Metals Company (CMC) and is responsible for the integration and growth of the ChromX product line into CMC production and rebar fabrication businesses. Prior to the acquisition by CMC in 2017, Russo was chief executive officer (CEO) of MMFX Technologies in Irvine, Calif., USA. With more than 40 years of experience in the steel industry, his primary focus as CEO was driving the expansion of the industrial applications for MMFX’s unique steel nanotechnology, and growing the market position of its uncoated corrosion-resistant and high-strength reinforcing steel products. Russo began his career in 1977 at Bethlehem Steel’s Sparrows Point rod and wire mill as a management trainee. During his time there, he held various roles in engineering, operations and senior management across several different facility owners which included International Steel Group (ISG) and Arcelor Mittal. He retired as president and general manager of the Sparrows Point facility in 2010 while it was under the ownership of OAO Severstal. Prior to joining MMFX Technologies, Russo served as the president and CEO of Trusscon Inc., a consulting company focused on the steel manufacturing and processing industries. There he led efforts to assist major global companies with improvements in a variety of areas, including sales strategy, product development and evaluation of industry opportunities. He holds a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He has seven patents and has authored numerous technical papers related to the steel industry.
