Francis Cameron is the retired Chairman of the Board of the St. Joe Minerals Corporation. He has remained with the company as a Member of its Board and as a consultant since his retirement in 1971.

Mr. Cameron was born in Washington, D.C. and was graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1924. After a year of graduate study at Stanford, he joined Chief Consolidated Mining Company in Utah. In 1926 he became Assistant Geologist with International Smelting Company and in 1928, joined the Anaconda Copper Company where he remained until 1945. During World War II he was active in the supervision of the foreign and domestic minerals procurement program of the government's Metals Reserve Company and the War Production Board. In 1945 Mr. Cameron joined the St. Joseph Lead Company in New York City (now known as St. Joe Minerals Corporation). He was elected Vice President of the company in 1946, a Trustee and member of the Executive Committee in 1953, President in 1960 and Chairman of the Board in 1967. He is a Director and officer in several St. Joe subsidiary companies and is a Director of the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad Company.

Mr. Cameron received the AIME William Lawrence Saunders Gold Medal in 1965 and the Daniel C. Jackling Award in 1968. He is a Fellow of the Geological Society of America and a member of AIME, Society of Economic Geologists, Mining and Metallurgical Society of America and the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.
