Born in Denver, Colorado, in 1901, he graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1922 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. He then joined the U.S. Bureau of Mines in Bartlesville Oklahoma, as a petroleum chemist. In 1933, Mr. Reistle became Chairman of the East Texas EngineeringAssociation, a cooperative organization formed to obtain engineering facts on operation of the East Texas Field. His efforts were important in establishing efficient production rates and practices.
He joined Humble Oil and Refining Co. in 1936, as Engineer in Charge of the Petroleum Engineering Division; was advanced to head of the Division in 1940; became General Superintendent of the Production Department in 1945 and, later, Manager of Production Operations. In 1948, he was elected a Director; in 1955 Vice-President; in 1957, Executive Vice-President. When Humble was reorganized into a nation-wide company in 1959, he was named Executive Vice-President and a Director.
During World War II, Mr. Reistle was technical advisor for District III of the Petroleum Administration for War. He was also National Vice-Chairman of the Oil Industry Advisory Committee for the Office of Price Administration.
A member of AIME since 1935, his activities on its behalf and his able administration have done much to advance its progress.
