Anuj Gupta (SPE)

Anuj Gupta is a Petroleum Engineering Consultant and Reservoir Engineering Technology Leader (Acting), at the Aramco Research Center--Houston. In this role, he oversees all activities related to Reservoir Engineering for Unconventional Reservoirs, leading a team of researchers and support staff. Anuj has provided professional service and technical leadership to the SPE and oil industry for three decades. He made pioneering contributions in piloting the SPE Certification program and has taught a generation of engineers. He has worked in various capacities: advisory councils, committees, technical groups, sections, mentoring, and organizing conferences. His activities span across local and international levels, technical and professional development, and leadership roles in SPE. He Gupta has over 27 years of experience within the United States and Middle East having worked for leading academic programs in Petroleum Engineering before joining Aramco Services Company. Prior to joining Aramco, he served on the Petroleum Engineering faculty for 21 years at various institutions including the University of Oklahoma, Missouri University of Science & Technology, Louisiana State University, ADNOC Petroleum Institute, and, Texas A&M University. His areas of interest include Unconventional reservoirs, reservoir characterization, Enhanced Oil / Gas recovery, petrophysics, and drilling. Anuj is co-author of over 100 journal articles and conference publications, first author of many granted patents, and has authored several patent applications in his role at the at Aramco Research Center-Houston. Anuj earned a Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Anuj is a Distinguished Member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and recipient of the SPE International Distinguished Service Award in 2017. He is a registered Professional Engineer.
