Mr. Robert P. Kudlawiec, PE, is a recognized mining expert by industry, academia, and professional societies. He has demonstrated sustained contributions to the mining industry for more than 49 years. Over this time, he has functioned at the project management level through key senior-level positions at several companies and has participated in and directed numerous mining operations.

Bob holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University and an MBA degree from Wheeling College. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania and seven additional states. He is also a certified Mine Manager in three states. Bob is the President of the Pennsylvania Board of Professional Engineers, Geologists, and Surveyors. 

Bob is a 47-year member of SME and is an SME Registered Member. He was selected in 2010 as a Distinguished Fellow of the SME Pittsburgh Section, and he was honored in 2018 as an SME National Distinguished Fellow.

Bob has served SME on both a local and national level. He has been involved with SME through the Pittsburgh Section, and he has progressed through the ranks of the Coal and Energy Division, a member of the SMEF, a national Board Member of SME, and was Chair or a Member of numerous SME national committees.
