Colorado School of Mines - Metallurgical and Materials Engineering

Ginny Judge is a PhD candidate at the Colorado School of Mines (CSM) in the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department and is part of the Advanced Steel Processing and Products Research Center (ASPPRC). She is advised by Professors John Speer and Amy Clarke and her research focuses on the mechanical and microstructural response of medium carbon, high strength steel to rapid, short-time tempering. Ginny received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from CSM in 2014 and 2017, respectively. She has been an active member of AIST, ASM International, ACerS, and TMS since 2012 through the Materials Advantage student program. She served as treasurer and vice president of the CSM Material Advantage chapter during her undergraduate career, and later as an ASM International student board member during graduate school. Ginny is also active within the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), where she works at the regional and university level to increase graduate student inclusion and participation within SWE. She is the recipient of several honors including the CSM McIver Faculty Award (2014), SWE Region I Scholarship (2018), SWE Region I Graduate Student of the Year (2018), and the Fluxtrol Student Research Award (2018). Outside of academics, she enjoys playing volleyball and ping pong, reading, knitting, golfing, and staying active. Upon graduation, Ginny hopes to continue researching steel and contributing to the understanding of metallurgical processes.
