Raymond Wysmierski is a graduate student in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Tennessee. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Tennessee in May 2023, graduating summa cum laude. He has been a member of Material Advantage since his second year of undergraduate study and currently serves as the chair of his college's chapter. During the semester, Raymond is active in research where he focuses on the laser powder bed fusion of steel, nickel, and titanium alloys. Raymond has worked with a variety of companies, including SSAB, Toyota, and American Nanotechnologies, through internships, where his work has focused on streamlining current processes. In addition, he has been involved in multiple engineering competitions where he and his teammates have reached national-level contests. Competitions include DomesDay (ASM Geodesic Dome Design Competition), MS&T Keramos Ceramic Mug Drop, TMS Materials Bowl, AISC Student Steel Steel Bridge, ASCE Concrete Canoe, and ASCE Sustainable Solutions.
