AIME promotes discussion and events on the sustainable use of our natural resources and materials in engineering designs. For several years, it hosted a multi-disciplinary sustainability committee which planned events entitled Engineering Solutions for Sustainability: Materials and Resources. The first iteration was a workshop in 2009, the second a symposium in 2015, and the latest a symposium in 2017.
