For her distinguished achievement in metal-mining safety and operations

Jami Dwyer, P.E., began her mining career at the U.S. Bureau of Mines, developing rockburst analysis software for the Lucky Friday, Sunshine, and Homestake mines, and later advanced safety monitoring technologies at NIOSH. Her M.S. thesis at the University of Missouri–Rolla was among some of the earliest research using radar and hyperspectral imaging for mine slope stability monitoring. In 2007, she went to work for Barrick Gold and held multiple leadership roles in technical services, operations, mobile maintenance, and corporate innovation. Later, Jami worked as a consultant and business development lead for Barr Engineering, expanding their western U.S. market and establishing a new regional office. She has served on the Board of Directors for the American Rock Mechanics Association, the National Academies for Science, Engineering, and Medicine’s Committee on Geological and Geotechnical Engineering, and multiple SME committees and is an SME fellow.
