Kimberly A. Lewandowski and S. Komar Kawatra (SME)

For the paper "Development of Experimental Procedures to Analyze Copper Agglomerate Stability"

Kimberly A. Lewandowski, Ph.D. is a Process Engineer for Cliffs Natural Resources and is based out of their Technology Center in Ishpeming, MI. At Cliffs, Kimberly focuses on renewable fuel projects, as well as various process improvement projects in the areas of pyrometallurgy and mineral processing. These projects are in support of several of Cliffs plants in the U.S. and other countries. Kimberly received her B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Michigan Technological University in 2004. She went on to receive her M.S. and Ph.D. from Michigan Technological University in 2006 and 2008, respectively, where she focused on agglomeration binders.  Kimberly has co-authored multiple papers in peer-reviewed literature and has also presented in several technical conferences.


Dr. S. Komar Kawatra is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at the Michigan Technological University. His passion is Undergraduate Education in Mineral Processing. His experience includes Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Centre, Brisbane, Australia, Mount Isa Mines, Australia, Canada Center for Mineral & Energy Technology, Ottawa, Canada and the Indian Atomic Energy Commission, Trombay, India. He has received numerous awards including Gaudin, Taggart, The Richards and the Aplan Award.
