Guijie Sang and Shimin Liu (SPE)
AIME Rossiter W. Raymond Memorial Award in
2023
Dr. Guijie Sang has been working as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK, since 2020. He holds a PhD in Petroleum Engineering from Pennsylvania State University. He has been an SPE member since 2018. He is also an editorial board member for Unconventional Resources Journal. Guijie has an interdisciplinary background in Rock Mechanics, Petroleum Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, and Microbiology. His research focuses on seeking engineering solutions to address some geo-environmental challenges, including using microbially induced carbonate precipitation to remediate leakage and mitigate seismicity for subsurface storage.
Shimin Liu is a Professor of Energy and Mineral Engineering at Penn State University, and he holds a PhD in Engineering Sciences from Southern Illinois University. His research interests include coalbed methane, carbon sequestration, geomechanics, flow of fluids in porous media, and health and safety. As PI, he has successfully secured funding from various US federal agencies, including the US Department of Energy, the National Science Foundation, CDC-NIOSH, Alpha Foundation, SME Foundation, and industrial partners. He is editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Coal Science and Technology.
