Fred Chester Bond has earned a world-wide reputation as an expert on comminution. He is the author of "Third Theory of Comminution", a basic law widely used in the materials processing industry.

Following graduation from Colorado School of Mines in 1922 with a degree of Engineer of Metallurgy, Fred Bond was employed in a variety of domestic and foreign jobs and as Chemistry Instructor at Colorado School of Mines where he received his Masters degree of Science in 1926.

In 1930 Mr. Bond joined the staff of Allis-Chalmers as director of the company's basic industries research laboratory and became a senior staff engineer in the processing machinery department in 1947.

His outstanding work has earned him two patents - one for a continuous turbidimeter for grinding mill control and another for an impactor hammer design. It has also earned him two previous awards, the Colorado School of Mines Distinguished Achievement Award and the AIME Wisconsin Section's "Man of the Year" award.

Mr. Bond has published about 100 technical papers, most of them on crushing and grinding.
