Theodore Robinson Eck (SPE)

In recognition of his significant contributions in the field of energy economics and his role as economic advisor to the petroleum industry and research organizations with specific interest in resolving problems relating to energy utilization.

Dr. Theodore R. Eck is Chief Economist for Standard Oil Company (Indiana). He holds an M.A. degree in Economics from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. degree in Economics from Michigan State University. Prior to joining Standard Oil in 1970, Dr. Eck served as Chief Economist for Creole Petroleum Corporation (Exxon), after joining the company in Caracas, Venezuela, as a Petroleum Analyst in 1964. He chaired the Department of Finance for Southern Methodist University from 1960 to 1963 and was a Petroleum Economist for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.

Dr. Eck is a consultant to federal government agencies on petroleum-related matters and serves on the advisory board of the Oil Daily, the International Oil and Gas Educational Center, and MIT's Energy Laboratory. A member of the Gas Research Institute's Advisory Council, and the Department of Commerce Economic Advisory Board, Dr. Eck also serves on the Board of Editors of The Energy Journal.
