Wendell Carter (AIST)

Wendell Carter earned a bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering from Iowa State University in 1983 and a master of business administration from Indiana University in 1997. In 1983 he joined the Ironmaking Division at Inland Steel Company, where he worked as a burden engineer at the plant 2 and 3 blast furnaces. He was transferred to the No. 7 blast furnace as cast-house engineer in 1988. He then progressed through various operating' and technical positions a the NO.7 BF.

Mr. Carter was assigned to the sinter plant and raw materials plan 2 BFs as acting section manager in 1992. A year later he was transferred to the NO. 7 reline team. In 1994 he was transferred to section manager, process and system control, No. 7 blast furnace. He has held his current position as section manager. operation, NO.7 blast furnace, since 1995.
