Ralph T. Hanna (AIST)
AIME J.E. Johnson, Jr. Award in 1964
Ralph T. Hanna was born in Iron Mountain, Michigan, in 1923. In 1948, he graduated with a B.S.M.E. from the Michigan College of Mining and Technology (now Michigan Technological University). Following graduation, he worked for Republic Steel Company in South Chicago until 1950. He was elected to membership in AIME in 1954.
Mr. Hanna moved to Pittsburgh in 1950, where he became affiliated with the United States Steel Company. He served on that company's Blast Furnace and Coke Committee until 1952 when he was transferred to its Fairless Works. He was promoted to Superintendent, Blast Furnaces, in 1958, which post he still holds.
