Charles M. Sciulli (AIST)

For the insight he has given into the need for close size control of all materials entering the blast furnace.

Charles M. Sciulli is senior research engineer at the Applied Research Laboratory of the United States Steel Corporation, Monroeville, Pennsylvania. He has been with the organization for the past fourteen years working in the field of blast furnace research.

Mr. Sciulli is the author of several technical papers and is the co-patentee of six patents, three of which are pending and deal with new blast furnace tuyere designs. He is currently group leader of the Blast Furnace Studies group, of the Raw Materials Utilization Division, Applied Research Laboratory, conducting research on ways and means for improving the blast furnace process and to provide technical assistance whenever necessary.

Mr. Sciulli received his B.S. degree in chemical engineering from Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie-Mellon University).
