Bowen Li is a Research Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and Institute of Materials Processing at Michigan Technological University, USA. His research interests include applied mineralogy, porous materials, antimicrobial surface treatment, materials characterization and analysis, metals extraction, and solid waste reuse.  He has published more than 140 technical papers, authored/co-authored 3 books, edited/co-edited 14 books, and hold 16 patents.

Bowen Li received a PhD degree in Mineralogy and Petrology from China University of Geosciences Beijing in 1998, and a PhD degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Michigan Technological University in 2008. He has been an active member in The Minerals, Metals, and Materials Society (TMS), Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration (SME), and China Ceramic Society.
