Ali Ghalambor (SPE)

Ali Ghalambor is a technical advisor at the Oil Center Research International and an international consultant. He has more than 35 years of industrial and academic experience in the petroleum industry. He held engineering and supervisory positions at Tenneco Oil Company, Amerada Hess, and Occidental Research Corporation. He has served as the American Petroleum Institute Endowed Professor and head of the department of petroleum engineering, and director of the Energy Institute at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Ghalambor has authored or coauthored 13 books and manuals and more than 180 technical papers. He is recognized for technical contributions through fundamental and applied research on formation damage.
Ghalambor is a Distinguished Member and has won multiple SPE awards, including the Eastern North America Regional Production & Operations Award in 2007; the Regional Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Social Responsibility Award in 2008; and the Regional Completion and Optimization Award in 2009. He served as the director of the Central and Southeastern North America Region on the SPE International Board of Directors and is the founding chairman of the SPE International Symposium and Exhibition on Formation Damage Control. He holds BS and MS degrees in petroleum engineering from University of Southwestern Louisiana and a PhD from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Environmental sciences and engineering.
