For constant achievement in the advancement of practical mine ventilation and the elevation of health and safety in the mining community

Mr. Wallace’s career started in 1983 when he and Dr. Malcolm McPherson formed Mine Ventilation Services, Inc. He has been a consultant in mine ventilation engineering for coal, non-metal, and metal mines, as well as civil tunnel projects and nuclear waste facilities. In 2016 MVS merged with SRK Consulting (U.S.), Inc. He is presently a corporate consultant for SRK. He was awarded the 2012 Howard Hartman Award for outstanding service in the field of mine ventilation engineering. He has been a member of SME since 1982 and a member of the underground ventilation committee of SME since 1988. He has authored over 35 papers on mine ventilation and was the editor of the 12th U.S. Mine Ventilation Symposium held in Reno, Nevada. He has given keynote addresses at the 11th International Mine Ventilation Congress in Xi’an, China, the 17th North American Mine Ventilation Symposium held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and the 2019 Annual Joint Meeting of SME/PCMIA in Pennsylvania. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of California, Berkeley.
