AIME, TMS, and MEC had booths providing outreach to an estimated 300,000 attendees between April 25-27, including teachers, students, and their parents.  AIME allowed participants to become mining engineers and dig up and identify mineral specimens and discover which were magnetic.  Volunteers from the National Mining Association and American Coal Foundation as well as local SME member, Mike Kaas, assisted.
