AIST Annual Meeting 2017*
AISTech 2017, steel's premier technology event, was held for the first time at Nashville, Tennessee. Attendees relished the atmosphere that came from the Music City. Total attendance was 6,274 from 42 countries with 113 technical sessions (504 presentations) and 535 exhibiting companies. 1,130 attended the President's Award Breakfast where AIME's Hunt-Kelly and Fairless awards were presented. AIME's Johnson Award was presented by AIME Past President, Dale Heinz, at the Ironmaking Committee Lunch the day prior. AIME President from SME, Nikhil Trivedi, presented Honorary Membership to Bill Breedlove, Andy Harshaw, and Dick Teets, as well as a check for $92,500 in AIME grants to AIST President, Wendall Carter, at the Ryman Theater where the Grand Olde Opry used to be held.
