2016 SAME STEM Engineering & Construction Camps
Attention: Rising 10-12th grade high-school students who are interested in STEM careers.
Are you on an engineering track in HS? Do you want to work as part of a real engineering or construction project team this summer? These STEM camps will provide students an opportunity to broaden their engineering knowledge and apply problem solving techniques while competing among their teams. The camps are all design to focus on hands-on activities, supervised and executed by engineers. SAME has been conducting these world-class camps for over 15 years and has an excellent record “building” our nation’s future engineers.
Where and When:
- Air Force Academy, Colorado (Air Force Camp), July 7-13
- Camp Lejeune, North Carolina (Marine Corps Camp), June 19-25
- Vicksburg, Mississippi (Army Camp), June 12-18
Basic Application Criteria: At least 15 years of age, minimum 3.5 GPA, U.S. Citizen, on track to attend college for a STEM degree.
To apply: (AF, Marine Corps, Army): Go to http://www.same.org/STEMCAMPS read through the camp description and follow the application process. Find a sponsoring Post; Download and complete your application package for a specific camp location; Send e-copy of application and required forms to your sponsoring post POC. This is a competitive process, with campers recruited from the US and overseas.
Deadline for all applications: Application due to Post by April 1, 2016
Cost: The cost of the camp is $580, the Army camp is less. No payment is required until after final selection. Upon selection, contact your sponsoring post POC. For most SAME Posts, students selected for a camp will receive a scholarship to pay for ½ of their tuition fee of $580 and the post will cover the airfare.
