Raymond B. Ladoo was born in Ayer, Mass., in 1893. In 1914, he received an A.B. cum laude and, two years later, an A.M. in Mining Engineering from Harvard University. His experience in the industrial minerals field has many facets since he served with Low Moor Iron Co., John B. Guernsey & Co., the U.S. Bureau of Mines, Southern Minerals Corp., Colorado Fluorspar Corp., U. S. Gypsum Co., among others, constantly growing in stature as an authority in his specialty. His activities have recently been curtailed by illness. Mr. Ladoo is an independent Consulting Engineer, with his residence in Newton, Mass. Mr. Ladoo's technical writings have been numerous and widely recognized. Possibly his best-known publication is Non-Metallic Minerals. In AIME, of which he has been a Member since 1914, he has done much to emphasize and encourage an interest in Industrial Minerals. Early in the 1920's, he and the late Dr. Bowles established the committee which, in 1935, developed into the Industrial Minerals Division. He is a former Chairman of the Boston Local. Section, served on the AIME Board and, for three years, was 'Treasurer and Director of the Society of Mining Engineers of AIME.
