Noel D. Rietman is a petroleum engineer and geologist who consults internationally.  Prior to consulting, he served as chief petroleum engineer, manager of Drilling and Production, vice president and general manager of the Northern Division, group vice president of Continental US, and senior vice president of Production for Maxus Energy Corporation or its predecessors, Diamond Shamrock and The Shamrock Oil and Gas Corporation.  He received a BS degree in petroleum engineering and a BA degree in geology from Texas Tech University and an MS degree in mathematics from West Texas A & M University. Mr. Rietman received the SPE Distinguished Service Award in 1998.  He has served AIME in many capacities, including member of the AIME Board in 1982-85, president of AIME in 1994, trustee and president of SPE, and president of the SPE Foundation.
