Noel D. Rietman is a consultant with Maxus Energy Corp. He joined the firm's predecessor, Diamond Shamrock Exploration Co., in 1957 as a junior engineer, subsequently becoming Chief Petroleum Engineer; Manager of Drilling & Production; Vice President and General Manager, Northern Division; Group Vice President, Continental US, and Senior Vice President, Production.

A graduate of Texas Tech University with a BS in Petroleum Engineering and a SA in Geology, he also holds an MS in Mathematics from West Texas State University. A Distinguished Member of SPE, Mr. Rietman has served SPE on numerous committees, as Amarillo Petroleum Section Chairman, and as President of the Society in 1987. He has been an SPE Foundation Trustee since 1987 and currently serves as Vice President. Mr. Rietman served on the AIME Board in 1982-85 and was the 1991 Chairman of the AIME Distinguished Service Award Committee.
