Shauna served on the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) International Board of Directors twice from 2012-2015 and 2019-2021 and was the 2020 SPE President, setting the organization’s long-term strategy and leading staff and members globally.   The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is a not-for-profit professional association with more than 140,600 members in 144 countries engaged in oil and gas exploration and production.  In addition to being SPE President, she was the Executive Compensation Committee Chair, Finance Committee Chair, and Chair of the Meetings Committee, overseeing all of SPE’s global events and conferences.  She chaired the ISO committees for Progressing Cavity Pumps (PCP) and ESPs (ISO 15136-1 and 15551-1, respectively) and has served on API committees for gas lift and ESP systems as well.

 Currently, Shauna is an Oxy Fellow and Senior Director of Global Supply Chain Initiatives with over 30 years of industry experience. As an Oxy Fellow, she actively participates with executives in developing corporate-wide strategic objectives and commercial endeavors, ensuring that the company stays at the forefront of technological developments.  Previously at Oxy, she held the roles of Chief of Production Engineering and Director of Artificial Lift Technology, leading global teams of discipline experts in the production of oil and gas.  She actively travels to Oman, Abu Dhabi, Algeria, and US locations to work with the local leadership on their technical and procurement challenges.  Prior to this role, she was the Completions Technology Manager for ConocoPhillips, where she led a global team of completion, geomechanics, and reservoir engineers focused on technology development for unconventional shale reservoirs and the Canadian Oil Sands. In her years at ConocoPhillips (2004-2015) and at Chevron (1993-2004), she led production and completion engineering projects in China, Norway, Venezuela, North Sea, Alaska, Canada, Indonesia, Brazil, and the Lower 48 United States. 

 Shauna is the author of over 25 technical papers, is an SPE Distinguished Member, and was named one of the 25 Most Influential Women in Industry in 2020 by Hart Energy Magazine.  She holds a BSc in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Alberta and will graduate from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business Advanced Management Program in October 2024.
