Thomas E. Millsop was born in Sharon, PA, in 1898 and was educated in the public schools of that city. Following service in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1917 to 1919, he was with the Standard Tank Car Co., starting as Riveter, and becoming successively Foreman, Assistant Purchasing Agent, and Purchasing Agent until 1924 when he entered the scrap business with the Rotter-Spear Co. of Cleveland, Ohio, for one year. He returned to Standard Tank Car Co. as Production Manager until 1927 when he went to Weirton Steel Co. division of National Steel Corp. Starting as salesman, he was rapidly promoted to Assistant Sales Manager, Assistant to the President, and Vice-President.

In 1936, Mr. Millsop became President of Weirton Steel, the youngest man ever to head a major steel company, and held that position until 1954 when he was named President of National Steel and Vice Chairman of Weirton Steel. He is currently President and Chief Executive Officer of National Steel Corporation and, also, has been or is Chairman, President, or Director of many other companies, hanks, and organizations.

In addition to his work in industry, Mr. Millsop has been prominent in the civic affairs of Weirton. Following the city's incorporation, he was elected its first Mayor in 1947 for a four-year term and re-elected immediately for another term. He maintains his offices in Pittsburgh, PA.

Mr. Millsop has received many honorary degrees from various universities and colleges. In 1952, he received the Horatio Alger Award of the American Schools and Colleges Association. In 1958, he was chosen "Management Man of the Year" by the National Management Association.
