SME held its annual meeting February 19-22nd in Denver, Colorado, USA in conjunction with the Colorado Mining Association's annual meeting and a Mine Backfill Symposium.  SME's meeting included 6325 attendees, 757 exhibitors, 121 sessions, 667 presentations from 27 countries.  They also held a first-time video competition to improve public perception of mining.  Details can be found at www.movemining.org.  SME's WAAIME Division celebrated its 100th anniversary with a reception with all universities, a cake, and champagne toast.  AIME President from SME, Nikhil Trivedi, attended the awards banquet to confer AIME awards.  AIME also held a third iteration of their Engineering Solutions for Sustainability:  Materials and Resources event on February 18-19 entitled "Toward a Circular Economy".  Details and pictures from this symposium can be found at http://aimehq.org/events/gallery/engineering-solutions-sustainability-materials-and-resources-3-toward-circular.
