Curtis L. Wilson was born and raised in Baltimore, Md. After graduating from Montana School of Mines in 1920, he worked for one year as Assistant Research Engineer for the Anaconda Copper Mining Co. He then returned to Montana School of Mines as Instructor in Metallurgy. He did graduate work at Columbia University during the summers of 1923 and 1924. In 1926, Dr. Wilson went to Europe where he received a Ph.D. from the University of Goettingen in 1928. He then he.came Professor of Metallurgical Engineering at Montana School of Mines until 1941 when he was appointed to his present position as Dean of Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy at Rolla, Mo. He was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Engineering by Washington University in 1954 and by Montana School of Mines in 1955. Dr. Wilson is the author of many technical papers on research metallurgy, and co-author of the hook, "The Metallurgy of Copper," published in 1942. A member of AIME since 1920, he has held many offices. He has served on its Board of Directors. He has been Chairman of the AIME Council of Education, and of the Montana and the St. Louis Local Sections. He is currently Vice-President of the Society of Mining Engineers of AIME.
