Theodore F. Olt

Theodore F. Olt retired in 1969 as Assistant to the President of the Armco Steel Corporation, in Middletown, Ohio. He is a 1928 graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a degree in chemical engineering.

He began his career with Armco Steel Corporation in 1928 as a Metallurgical Assistant in the Metallurgical Department. Promoted to Senior Metallurgist, he was transferred to the Armco Research Center in 1934 and was made Senior Research Engineer in charge of stainless steel research and development activities. Mr. Olt was made Supervising Metallurgist in the research laboratories and his responsibilities included high finish drawing sheet research. He was named Director of Research in 1947 and elected Vice President of Research and Technology in 1958. In 1967 he was made Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning and in 1968 he became Assistant to the President, a position which he held until his retirement in 1969.

Mr. Olt has been a member of the American Iron and Steel Institute, the American Society for Metals, the Society for Automotive Engineers, the British Iron and Steel Institute, the Electro-Chemical Society, and the American Society for Testing and Materials. He was a Director of the Oregon Metallurgical Corporation and Spindletop Research, Inc.
