For distinguished contributions to the advancement of the minerals industry through teaching students, extractive metallurgy education, minerals industry professional development, writing a textbook,  and research contributions in phase equilibrium

Dr. R. G. Reddy is an ACIPCO Endowed Professor of Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. His academic administration and research work experiences include Department Head of the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department and Associate Director of Center for Green Manufacturing at The University of Alabama; Professor at the Department of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering, The University of Nevada, Reno; and Visiting Researcher at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, University of California, Berkeley; Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay; and Argonne National Laboratory, Chicago and National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Golden, Colorado, USA.

Professor Reddy has over 38 years of teaching and research experience in the field of metallurgical and materials engineering. He has conducted funded research projects from including NSF, DOE. DOD, Industries. Dr. Reddy advised and mentored over 110 graduate students, research scholars, and visiting scientists.

Dr. Reddy has published over 443 research papers and 26 books. He has also delivered more than 286 invited lectures and research presentations keynote) in 26 nations. He is the recipient of 5 USA patents.

Dr. Reddy has served in many leadership positions within the College of Engineering, University, and other national and international organizations. He is consultant to more than 25 industries and taught several continuing education/short courses.

Honors and awards include National Dean’s list, Phi Kappa Phi, Tau Beta Pi Society, and Who’s Who in Technology Today. He has received several awards including the Milton E. Wordsworth Award for Extractive Metallurgy of SME, Henry Krumb Lecturer of SME, National Dean’s list, Phi Kappa Phi, Tau Beta Pi Society and Who’s Who in Technology Today. He is the recipient of the Eminent Engineer of the Tau Beta Pi Society, the TMS Extraction & Processing Distinguished Lecture Award, Alexander Scott Distinguished Service Award, and TMS Educator Award. Dr. Reddy is the recipient of the SEC Faculty Achievement Award.

For his pioneering research contributions and professional achievements, Dr. Reddy was honored with Professor Ramana Reddy Honorary symposium and publication of book on applications of Process Engineering Principles in Materials Processing, Energy, and Environmental Technologies, 2017. Dr. Reddy is an elected fellow of ASM International and the Distinguished Member of SME.
