AIME Environmental Stewardship Distinguished Service Award in
2001

For his advocacy and support of using scientific knowledge to enhance the understanding of fossil fuels use and its effects on climatic change.

Fredrick D. Palmer is general manager and chief executive officer of Western Fuels Association, Inc. and its four affiliated companies. Before March, 1985 he was Western Fuels' general counsel. Dr. Palmer is on the Board of Directors of the National Mining Association and chairs its legal committee and climate change task force. He chairs the Environmental Information Council and serves as president of the Board of Directors of Greening Earth Society, a new source of public information and education on the benefits of fossil fuels to the world's economy and the beneficial effects for the biosphere of increasing atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide. Dr. Palmer is a native of Arizona and graduate of the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Arts degree (1966) and with a Juris Doctor degree from the College of Law (1969). He was an editor of the Law Review and is admitted to the Order of the Coif. He graduated with honors from the Law School. Dr. Palmer is admitted to the practice of law in California and the District of Columbia.
