Benjamin B. Frost (AIST)

AIME J.E. Johnson, Jr. Award in
1948

In recognition of his work as described in his paper "Performance of Large Hot Blast Stoves."

The prominent place in our current industrial production of blast furnace operation makes this award particularly significant. The twenty-first recipient is Benjamin B. Frost.

Mr. Frost was born in Chehalis, Washington, in 1908. He received an A. B. degree from Stanford University in 1930 and an engineering degree in 1933. He went to work for the Potash Company of America in Carlsbad, New Mexico, in 1933. A year later he was employed by the Inland Steel Company, first as a third helper in the open.hearth department at Indiana Harbor, then as a metallurgist, and finally as a supervisor of blast-furnace practice.

Since 1936 he has been with Arthur G. McKee and Company and is now Sales Engineer. During 1945 he spent 3 1/2 months in England and Germany with the Strategic Bombing Survey. In 1946 he was in Brazil for three months during the start of operation of the Brazilian National Steel Company Plant at Volta Redonda.
